Description: This picture shows a Sentinal Cammell Laird Steam Rail Coach at Ripley Station, LMSR (London Midland and Scottish Railway). It was being tested and carried 56 passengers with luggage. It weighed 16 tons unloaded, 80% lighter than ordinary branch line trains and consisted of a locomotive and two carriages. The coal consumption was 75% less than a normal train and could be driven from either end.
