Description: Frank Wright in front of a headstock. Frank was charge-hand fitter for more than 30 years and was responsible for all winding gear and shaft inspections, he once found a fault in a new winding rope being fitted and possibly avoided a disaster, he was invited to visit the rope manufacturer and was presented with a pair of silver cuff links and a silver pocket knife by the comany owner. Frank also invented a device that detected objects that were protruding from the side of the cage and rang an alarm thus saving damage to the shaft sides, this was recognised by the board of directors and he was given a cash award and received a personal letter of thanks from Lord Robens.
