Description: Author Deric Longden signing a book for Paul Whitworth and his mum after giving a talk on his books. Deric was born and educated in Derbyshire. After designing ladies lingerie he became a scriptwriter and comedians labourer. Deric's first wife Diana died in 1985 and he wrote 'Diana's Story' in her memory. The book hit the Sunday Times best seller list straight away, won the NCR book award. The sequel 'Lost for Words', was his second best-seller. 'The Cat who came in from the Cold' was his third book. Since then, there have been three other books, I'm a Stranger here Myself, Enough to make a Cat Laugh and his latest, A Play on Words, which chronicles yet another year in his life and feature the filming of Lost for Words. In 1990 he re-married and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Literature.
