Description: Probably taken during the Flood Prevention Scheme work. The British Legion is still using Tamworth House as its HQ for the Duffield Branch. The house stands in small grounds fronting onto Tamworth Street which until the 19th century was called 'Back Street'. The original walled garden is now a car park. The house dates to the 18th century. The eldest son of the Earl of Ferrers bore the title of Viscount Tamworth and he was believed to own this house. Numerous different tenants lived here and these are listed in W R Watson's book, ' The Illustrated History of Duffield'.
