Description: Trolley bus heading under the railway overbridge at Langley Mill Station, probably early 1950s. Compare to DCHQ503644.
The trolley buses were replaced in the early 1950's. Service A1 ran from Ripley to Nottingham. Later on the services became B1, B2 and C6. Service B1 was the direct service from Ripley to Nottingham, service B2 ran via Ilkeston and service C6 ran via Waingroves and Ilkeston. The buses ran every 10 minutes during the daytime in a sequence B1, B2, B1, C6, B1, B2. The fare from Codnor Gate (opposite Lynam's Farm) to Ripley was a penny half-penny but from Eastfield Road it was a penny so a worthwhile walk. (Information kindly supplied by B G Bryan).
