Description: A man and three children in the snow at Little Hallam. The photographer is standing on a footpath that links Longfield Lane with Quarry Hill Road and is looking south-west. In the background is the bridge carrying Quarry Hill Road over the Great Northern Railway's Stanton branch - although built for double track, at this date only a single line passed beneath the bridge, as can be detected by the position of the soot staining the parapet. Unlike the railway, the footpath still exists but is now squeezed between Hallam Fields Junior School on the left and a housing development to the right. The original of this image has deteriorated but it is included here for its historic interest.
