Description: Taken on Whit Tuesday showing the side of the road opposite The Star. The house on the right was a farmhouse with buildings to the right off the picture and a croft leading to the hillside behind. The policeman is PC Hallam who came to Taddington in 1909. On his transfer in 1923 he was given a testimonial (£50 was collected) in the form of a gold pocket watch inscribed 'Presented to PC Hallam as a token of esteem by the residents of his district after 12 years service - 1923'. A tea service was also presented. His daughter, Mrs Margaret Keen insists that her father was at Taddington for thirteen and a half years, living elsewhere in the village for 18 months before they moved into the police house which was then near to White's School. The watch is still in use! The man in the foreground is Mr Dunn of Star House.
