Description: The Lido was originally the lake (see DCHQ004504)and has now been demolished. Rhododendron Sunday was the only day of the year when people were admitted to the grounds, allowed around the greenhouses and could sample the grapes. The pavilion was used as a cafe for the lido and then as a gym. There was also a paddling pool between the lake and the hall. In 1964 a Lottery raised £66,000 and the Council contributed £5,000, to build the Lido and purchase four acres of gardens and lawns.
