Description: The railway ran from here to Ripley pit and over Iron Bridge at the end of Steam Mill Lane. Mines Inspectors reports for 1896 show that the colliery was owned by the Butterley Company and employed 144 underground workers and 32 surface workers. Britain Colliery was managed by Mr. George Lamb and the undermanager was Mr. John Henshaw. The colliery predominantly mined the Deep Soft and Tupton seams.
