Description: King Kong was made by Ripley Scouts for the 1934 Ripley carnival. He was 14 feet 2 inches tall and his arms spanned 7 feet 6 inches. They did not win a prize at Ripley but Billy Butlin heard of him and asked the scouts to take him to lead Skegness carnival, which they did. Unfortunately Kong got damp during the following winter and it was decided to burn him on the silver jubilee beacon bonfire.
