About this image
A view from above Burbage Bridge with Hathersage Road busy with cars and cyclists on a sunny day during an Easter holiday, probably in the 1930s. The camera is looking south-east towards Fox House. Burbage Bridge takes the main road from Sheffield to Manchester across the Burbage Brook. To the right here is the top end of Padley Gorge down which the stream descends to join the River Derwent near Grindleford.
The photographer's original caption reads: 'Easter in Open Air. Fox House Moors, 10 miles from Sheffield, Derbyshire. Holiday Bus from Sheffield (9d [£0.04p] Fare) very popular run.'
