About this image
The photographer titled this view 'Dangerous Salvage' and 'Passed for Censor', adding 'There are millions of them, no one wants them now. The Derbyshire roads are lined with them for miles.'
The small child is probably a relative of the photographer. This same image also appears as DCHQ009759 where the location is said to be Buxton (possibly Harpur Hill), although it is unclear how this information originated. Can anyone verify this as Buxton (or Harpur Hill)? The presence of a telegraph pole route suggests this is a main road rather than a rural lane.
The original print has the date 5.7.48 in pencil, although that seems a little late for such munitions storage.
