About this image
Church School and House was built 1842-44, the house is octagonal, but known locally as the Round House. Over the porch is the Cavendish Serpent.
Radiating from the house are the classrooms. The school closed to pupils in 1969. The building is now a social club. For a considerable time the School House was occupied by three sisters; Lily, Nellie and Annie Swanson, who taught in the Girls School.
