About this image
Looking north with The Yew Tree Inn standing at the junction of the road from Hollington to Ruck o' Stones on the main Derby-Ashbourne highway (straight ahead) ith the lane towards Brailsford (right). The photographer habitually included members of his own family in his pictures but the two girls depicted here (one with a pram) were probably local inhabitants; however, the photographer's Douglas motorbike (another favourite prop) can be seen in front of the inn.
A comparison made with the same view in 2011 showed little change, aside from the pub having been enlarged. Even the telephone pole (or its successor) had not moved position.
Derby-based postcard publisher F W Scarratt took this photo and it was numbered 354 in his series.
