About this image
Looking west with Lin Dale in the background. This is one of a number of weirs (or 'waterfalls' as the Ordnance Survey termed them) in the lower part of Dovedale.
Edwardian 'trippers' are in evidence here including a picnic party part way up the hillside beside the path leading to Thorpe village and the Peveril (later the Peveril of the Peak) Hotel. The donkeys were available for hire to visitors who were unable to or who preferred not to walk.
