About this image
St Helen's Church, looking north-west and probably photographed at some date between 1890 and the First World War. The church is a Grade II-star listed building (first listed in 1966) with the present chancel dating back to 1180 (making it a very early example of Early English architecture), while the nave, side aisles and porch are of early 14th century date. The tower is 15th century, being completed in 1480. Restoration work and alterations were carried out in 1835, 1890 and 1956. Please note that if ordering a copy of this image, the original is unsharp.
