About this image
Reported to be 300 years old by the locals, Magpie Mine certainly has records dating back to 1739. It is a scheduled ancient monument and is the most complete example of a lead mine in Derbyshire. The Magpie Mine Cottage is now a 'Field Centre' for the Peak District Historical Mines Society.
