About this image
Mr Beever's father was a commercial traveller for flour mills and owned the Austin Seven in DCHQ008061. He and helpers turned the vehicle into the decorated ship as seen here, to raise money for the local hospitals at carnival time. This ship is the second ship they made, called the 'Wild Duck' and with it they raised some £300. The carnival took place after the procession, on fields at the back of Belper, where there is now a warehouse.
