About this image
St Alkmund's church was demolished in the 1960s to make way for the ring road, probably the part called St Alkmund's Way.
The local children, along with St Alkmund's vicar and choir boys, have returned from St Alkmund's church to Sunday School and are standing on Edward Street facing Lodge Lane. They are waiting be taken, via a selection of local business's vehicles, to a local park where activites are planned for the annual 'Whitsuntide Treat'.
