About this image
Fall Hill Mine between Fallgate and Milltowm was a Roman mine. Miners in the early part of 20th Century said that the passages of the old workings were so narrow that normal men of the present day could not use them. This mine has since been worked for fluor spa.
Milltown Mining Company was formed in 1856 to work Fall Mine. 75-90 tons of dressed ore were cold per month.
