About this image
The Long Gallery was built by John Manners in the late 16th and early 17th century. It is said that the wood used for the steps into the room was hewn from a single oak tree. Adequate lighting is provided by the use of a large number of diamond-shaped window panes, reflected throughout by the lightened oak panelling.
