About this image
Showing John W Needham, John Thomas Marriott and Esther Needham.
On the 1901 census Esther is 6 years old. It is believed that John William Needham is the man in the centre with the flat cap since a photograph of an old sketched drawing of him passed down through the Needham family. John William was forced to sell the farm in 1902 and later became well known in Hayfield through his work as a stonemason - he laid the stone setts in Bank Street among others. (Thanks to Keith Elliott, a descendant of the Needhams, for the information).
