One of a series of fires, all started at weekends - this one in particular was very fierce. £40,000 worth of damage was caused by these fires in a few weeks. The companies affected were Messrs Carters, Hosiery Manufacturers, Messrs Everest and Co, Furniture Manufacturers, the Trent Hosiery Co and Messrs Chambers, Cardboard Box Manufacturers.
