About this image
This photograph has no given date or location, but as there are few bridges in Ilkeston with a hill in the background like this, the location could possibly be at the bottom of Nottingham Rd, next to the gallows Inn, with Grange Wood on Trowell Hills in the background, (please let us know if you can identify or confirm the location). The pill-box would be in a logical place here as it is at the borders of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The name 'pillbox' derives from the shape of the small containers used to carry medicinal pills.
