About this image
Looking north from the bridge carrying Ilkeston Road (A609). In the foreground is the site of Trowell railway station (closed 1967); the abutment at the bottom of the picture once supported a deck over the line on which the roadside station building was supported. The footbridge in the background carries a public right of way from the A609 to Stoney Lane, while the hill in the far centre distance is the landscaped spoil heap of Cossall Colliery (closed in 1965). Cossall village is to the right of this.
