About this image
The Chesterfield Canal looking east towards Worksop at the picturesque hamlet of Turnerwood. When this photograph was taken the canal, although in water, was not navigable at this point but subsequently it was restored and reopened to boats from Worksop to Kiveton Park in 2003. This included the flight of nine locks at Turnerwood which helped the canal ascend from the valley of the River Ryton towards its summit pound at Norwood.
