Showing the Christmas Tree lit up under snow. The Memorial Gardens were built to honour men of the Sherwood Forester Battalions who were killed during the Battles of the Somme, 1st July - 18th November 1916 . The memorial plinth with the statue of a soldier, shown here on the left, lists names of villagers who died in World War 1, (with later additions from other conflicts)
