About this image
Showing the radio and tv servicing company, on the site of the former Primitive Methodist Chapel and the stables for the Red Lion pub. Website contributor George Avery states: 'This shop was owned by Ken Bartholomew who lived on Blacksmith Lane, Calow. He sold TV's, Radios etc and my parents bought my first ever reel to reel tape recorder from him in 1961 or possibly 1962. The Ark Tavern car park opposite the shop once had a terrace of 4 or 5 houses on it, the top one (1 Devonshire Street) was owned by my grandmother and she ran a small wallpaper and paint shop from there. No 1 was directly opposite Bartholomews'.
