The Ireland Colliery Band marching along Chesterfield Road in Staveley. (The tall man in the rainmac in the centre is Les Uttley, who played cornet with the band). They are possibly celebrating the end of World War II in Europe. On 7th May 1945 General Jodl signed an unconditional surrender at Reims. However, the Second World War continued until the Japanese Army surrendered on 2 September 1945.
