About this image
Newbold Village looking east with Littlemoor coming in from the left at the mini traffic island. As the name suggests, the section of road known as Newbold Village was the location of the original settlement before the area became a suburb of Chesterfield.
Each side of the road is flanked by a public house (although only the signs are visible here) - The Wheatsheaf on the left and The Nag's Head on the right. The flats in the centre distance (Birchover Court) are on the site of yet another pub, The Cross Daggers, which ceased trading around 1960.
See DCCC002798 for a similar view taken in 1967.
