About this image
Standing far left is Harry Madeley. Top row far right is Mrs Cox. Seated far left is Billy Smith, then Joyce Smith, Mrs Wardle, Dorothy Madeley and Len Madeley who was on the committee of Bellfield Court and the Evergreens. The group are enjoying a typical afternoon tea of the day with ham and tongue salad, cherry topped cakes, trifle and tea to drink, all served on Green Beryl pottery. Green Beryl was the favoured ware of institutions, from WI groups to hotels and hospitals. The same style ware was also available in blue and cream.
