About this image
Situated about a mile west of Loscoe Church. Unfortunately, the dam is no longer there. There used to be a series of dams running down from Denby to Loscoe eventually becoming Bailey Brook at Langley Mill. The Red River Nature reserve still has a dam and the next one down would have been this one the Egreaves dam. Another of the dams was built to feed Loscoe Water Mill where the nature reserve is now. There is now a public footpath going up to the right of the picture. You can still see part of the dam wall under the undergrowth. The dam was drained by breaching the dam wall.
