This view shows the south side of Trent Bridge no. 12, with the last remaining remnants of the 'up' line prior to lifting by Trackwork of Doncaster Ltd. Note the concrete sleepers installed on both 'up' and 'down' roads which in the event of invasion by the enemy, Tank Traps could be installed on the Kings Newton side of the river. Trent Bridge no. 12 provided a vital link between the Transportation Stores Depot at Kings Newton and the military establishments at Weston on Trent.
