About this image
There are no details accompanying this view which shows a village street - possibly a main road judging by the plethora of telegraph / telephone poles that line both sides of the highway. The buildings on the left are particularly distinctive with pantiled roofing and polychrome brickwork, while the street seems particularly busy with pedestrians, a large number of cyclists, a horse and cart and even a cat. The white-painted stripes on the nearest poles (to aid their visibility during the Blackout) suggest a date during World War Two or soon afterwards.
