About this image
The twin-arched covered well is a well known feature in Curbar village at the crossroads of The Green, Pinfold Hill, The Hillock and The Bent. The sign reads: 'NOTICE. Any person found damaging these troughs or polluting the water will be prosecuted. By Order.'
The young man is Frank Brindley (junior), the eldest son of the photographer. He later worked at Sheffield Polytechnic, (subsequently Sheffield Hallam University) where he was a chief technician in the Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department.
