About this image
Titled by the photographer as 'Derbyshire's Stone Walls and Trees, Snap near Eyam', this is actually a view of Tideswell Lane (earlier Fieldend Gate Lane) at Foolow, albeit looking north-east towards Eyam.
The dry valley in the middle distance is Linen Dale, which eventually becomes Middleton Dale running down to Stoney Middleton. There are numerous long abandoned lead mines hereabouts and to take this view the photographer appears to have climbed up onto one of the resulting spoil tips.
