About this image
The ruinous Terrace Range looking north-east with the twin lodges to the Little Castle in the background.
Although constructed in the 17th century on the site of a medieval castle, Bolsover Castle was more of a country house or aristocratic retreat built by the Dukes of Newcastle. In the 18th century it suffered a decline and the Terrace Range seen here was roofless by the 1770s.
