Barbrook Old Bridge
About this image
Barbrook Old Bridge takes Church Lane across the Bar Brook on the east (Nether End) side of Baslow village. The Brook flows into the River Derwent between Baslow and Chatsworth.
The bridge is of late 18th century date and has been listed Grade II since 1974. This is the south side and comparison with PTPD300203 shows that the appearance of the bridge has been somewhat spoiled by the addition of a new-looking pipe (probably a water main, but possibly gas), the shallow crown of the arches not allowing it to be buried in the roadway. Today is has been removed.
