About this image
The Fox House Inn dates back to 1773 but was rebuilt and extended by the Duke of Rutland in the 1840s. It took its name, not as might be supposed, from the animal, but from a Mr Fox of Callow Farm in Highlow, near Hathersage. This view is looking west.
The photographer titled this picture 'Wild Weather in Derbyshire', adding 'Fox House Inn after last nights Blizzard.'
