About this image
This view is looking down what was once Birchinlee Lane towards Ouzelden Bridge, exposed amid the accumulations of silt due to the Derwent Reservoir being virtually empty because of drought. Until the rebuilding of the packhorse bridge from Derwent village at Slippery Stones following the construction of Ladybower Reservoir, Ouzelden was the first and most northerly bridge across the River Derwent.
The photographer titled this view 'Derwent Dam, Pack Horse Bridge in view 90ft below normal water level. First time for years.'
