Roadside storage of bombs, Monyash, 1945 ?
From collection of F H Brindley
Brindley, F H (Sheffield and District News Pictures, 973 Abbeydale Road)
About this image
Surplus World War Two bombs stored beside a road between Monyash and Sheldon. The view is looking north-west with Johnson Lane in the distance going off right towards Sheldon. The woodland on the left forms the easternmost extremity of Hard Rake Plantations. No doubt the white paint applied to the bombs nearest the road were to make them more visible to road vehicles.
This location is also depicted in PTPD300017 but taken on a different occasion as the bombs stored in the distance in that view are not present here.
