About this image
The new Pavilion was built in 1911 and was also called The Kursaal (German for 'cure hall'). It was originally a pump room for taking mineral spa waters, which was said to cure ailments. By the 1950's-60's it was a popular spot for dances and social events. It is now the Peak District Mining Museum and Tourist Centre.
