About this image
At 300 metres above sea level, Buxton claims to be the highest market town in England. The Market Place is in the old town and is dominated by the Town Hall. The Market Place in Higher Buxton has been the home of Buxton Market since 1813, and probably before. This view shows The Eagle Inn and Eagle Parade. Houses on Eagle Parade were built in 1900 by G E Garlick.
