Manners Colliery, Ilkeston
About this image
Viewed from the south east from the footbridge over the railway sidings. The colliery is believed to have been sunk to the Kilburn Seam in 1876-77, in proximity to the earlier Rutland Nos 1 and 2 Collieries. Headstocks were renewed in 1902; and Manners Colliery was closed in 1949. Taken as part of the 'Views of Ilkeston' Series.
