About this image
The Victoria 'Bluecoat' School was built in 1845 and demolished in 1934. A bus station was built on the site. It's name commemorates Queen Victoria's visit to Chatsworth and it was attached to the parish church. The children wore a distinctive uniform paid for by the Church. The left-hand building at the end of the street on St Mary's gate was built c. 1750 and was the offices of the Scarsdale Brewery Co. The Old Anchor Hotel is also shown
