About this image
A C8 bus, registration number XNU 420. The C8 bus ran to Kimberley. Until the low aquaduct over the road at Cossall was demolished, the route was served entirely by single decker buses, due to the limited headroom.
The bus garage was opened in 1961 to house 50 buses. The bus station was taken over by Trent Bus Company in 1972.
The bus is a Bristol LS(Light Saloon).
The Midland General Group which included Notts & Derby Traction and Mansfield District Traction was actually part of the Tilling Group alongside Bristol and ECW (Eastern Coach Works). (Additional information kindly supplied by Alun Birkin).
